Zhengjia Fm
Type Locality and Naming
In 1951, Song Xuezong et al named the "Zhengjiatun Formation". The named section is located in Zhengjiatun, Benxi, Liaoning.
Synonym: Dengjia Fm (spelling). In 1950, Wang Yu, Lu Yanhao, Yang Jingzhi et al. defined the red sedimentary rocks from Zhengjiatun to Linjiaweizi to the south of Caitun in Benxi as the Upper Cretaceous. In 1951, Song Xuezong et al. named the red layer as the Zhengjiatun Fm. In 1959, Pan Guang et al. renamed this formation the Zhengjia Formation and considered that it was equivalent to the Shiqianfeng Gr in North China and was dated as Late Permian.
Lithology and Thickness
The main lithology is purple and light red "giant thick" (?) layer and fine-grained feldspar quartz sandstone in thick layers, generally interbedded with red mudstone, shale and mudstone mass. The top layer is light red medium thickness medium-grained gravel sandstone interbedded with purple shale, mudstone mass and conglomerate. The cross-bedding is developed, and there are dry cracks and ripple marks. Its thickness is 300 to 790 m.
